Band Bio:-

Coaldust come from a tranquil village called Abertridwr in Caerphilly, uk
All four members have known each other since they were very young and have shared their childhood with each other almost everyday of their lives, and that’s what makes them a close knit band that they are today almost family like.

Coaldust was formed in early 2002, at the time the band only consisted of Geraint, David and Robert and achieved many goals as a three piece, “One of the most favoured memories as a three piece must have been playing in the Czech Republic, Prague, It was the first time we had played in front of a few thousand people and was very nerve racking. But we made the most of the time we had out there and made good progress as a band” says Geraint Morgan.

But it wasn’t until 2003 until Michael joined the band after splitting with his current band also local Vaigen, Mike joined the band purely because of the potential that Coaldust were showing and the respect the boys had for him coming into a completely different line-up.” It must have been really hard for him to just show up one day for rehearsals and just play, but he did and the chemistry was awesome, what a bus he just glued in with us almost instantly as if he was always with us!” says Robert Bunce.

Almost instantly after Mike had joined the band Coaldust were offered a showcase style gig with NEON PROMOTIONS, London, The promoters were interested in Coaldust and gave a great review, but the lads found it very hard to travel back and forth London every week to play a gig that might not even benefit from, so they called it a day with NEON and set out again for their search to get signed.

So for the last few years Coaldust have been gigging non stop to build their fan base and to get the word around, then came the big clubs TJ’s, Barfly, Pop factory, Ponty Muni, Club Ifor Bach etc…. all were interested in bringing Coaldust to their town. And in late 2005 Coaldust were entered into a Battle of the bands Style tournament in Port Talbot, and after beating off severe competition in the 2 heat stages Coaldust were crowned winners! The prize?, 2 days in Group-eze recording studio in Port Talbot, And that was were the band recorded there demo which consisted of “Out of Control” and “Doing it all again”.

currently the band has entered yet another battle of the bands competition this time based in Neath, Coaldust has already qualified to the next heat after winning the first heat on top at the Windsor club, neath. The next heat will be on 02/06/06 at the Pontypridd Muni Art Centre! , So come along and support the guys!!
